I’ve been asked about my thoughts on the Super Bowl this Sunday. OK here goes:
- Every SB is low scoring, only 5 losing teams have scored more than 25 points. So if you’re expecting a shoot out – forget it .
- Both coaches are excellent play designers. Andy Reid has some clock control issues.
- Both teams have good QBs but Mahomes is a great QB – he makes plays. Purdy is still underrated & this could be his coming out party .
- The 49ers have better Wide Outs Brandon Aiyuk & Deebo Samuels are big play guys. Samuels is also an effective runner. The Chiefs really mis Tyrik Hill. Hill made them explosive that element is missing.
- Both teams have excellent Tight Ends but I give the nod to Kittles – Kielce dropped more passes this year trying to make big plays. 6
- Finally the Big Edge goes to the 49ers with Christian McCaffery. He is the 9ers difference maker. Look for them to use him as a Wide Receiver & throw the ball to him on Quick Screens & hitches. He is versatile, he moves the chains & is always a big play threat. Pacheco is a good solid back but not an elite one.
- So I expect a low scoring game, if the 49ers can control the ball with high % passes & keep Purdy out of long yardage situations with the run game they’ll keep Mahomes off the field & win the Super Bowl. Keeping Mahomes off the field is key. – TD
