The 2009 Football Season
By Tony DeMeo
The opening kickoff of the 2009 season is just around the corner, and what I’d like to do is for the Triple Gunners to keep us updated on your schools & your scores. We take our relationship very seriously & want to follow your progress so every weekend update us on the HS forum.
Teams to follow:
1.Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech will have a monster year & is always great to watch. Paul puts on a play calling clinic every time out of the box.
2.Chip Kelly at Oregon – a 1st year head coach with a great scheme. The Ducks will be moving the ball with great creativity.
3.Army – Coach Ellerson’s staff will turn the Army Black Knights around quickly & don’t be surprised if they are in a Bowl game in year one.
4.Navy – always well coached with a strong tradition with the “spread optionâ€.
5.Troy Calhoun at Air Force has added his stamp to the option – very innovative and exciting to watch.
6.Frank Solich at Ohio University has a combination of option & power football.
7.Maryland with two outstanding offensive minds in Ralph Friedgen & James Franklin will produce their own brand of the West Coast Offense.
8.Ken O’Keefe at Iowa does a great job of getting the Hawks playmakers the ball.
9.Penn State could be a dark horse in the Big 10 – very athletic QB should send JoPa to more of an option style attack.
10.Any time you can see Texas Tech you’ll always pick up something in the Passing game. Mike Leach & Hal Mumme were 2 of the originators of the Air Raid Offense.
11.Herb Hand at Tulsa will be entertaining to watch because he combines principles from lot different offense into one very productive attack.
12.Rob Spence takes on the challenge of getting Syracuse’s offense in gear. Rob has always produced dynamic offenses and he’ll get the Orangemen rolling this season.
There are many other teams I’ll look forward to seeing but this dozen will get you started. If anyone wants to add to the list – post it in the college forum. Good Luck
